patients with ICDs are often full of questions regarding their device (such as can one use a microwave with an ICD - the answer is yes no problem). Others have been traumatized by an episode of aborted sudden death or frequent discharges of the device. To help patients feel better about their device and to keep our patients informed about the latest in ICD therapy Florida Electrophysiology Associates is happy to offer our patients an ICD support group. The meetings of this group occur quarterly. The group is supported by JFK medical center and meetings are held at JFK. We offer patients refreshments and light snacks during these meetings. All patients with ICDs are welcome to attend these meetings including patients who had their ICDs implanted elsewhere or who receive care for their device from another physician. We plan to have several guest speakers this year and in the recent past have had representatives of the two major ICD manufacturers (Medtronic and Guidant) come to the group to answer patients questions. We hope you will consider joining us for a meeting if you have an ICD or have someone close to you who has an ICD. This group is for the benefit of patients and we welcome your suggestions as to how to make it the best. Patient's with ICD's and pacemakers and their family are all welcome.
The following is this years schedule for the support group:
